Tangram project

To finish the year, we are going to work on a Team project... Making a Tangram puzzle and its box!

STEPS OF THE PROJECT

DAY 1 (1ºD 1/6, 1ºE 6/6, 1ºC 7/6)

Form teams of 3 people

During this session you'll have to write everything down in the project's portfolio: decisions, rules, roles, planning, budget...

Choose roles: Spokesperson, Coordinator, Secretary. Which tasks do you think each role will be in charge of? Debate and agree in class

Talking about the workshop rules

Choose a name for your team

Plan how to bring the materials you need to bring for the next session:

· 50x70cm white mounting cardboard (cartón pluma, you can buy it in the school, 4'80€)

· Pencil, rubber, pencil sharpener

· Set squares and ruler

· A paper / textile bag to keep your project in the workshop

· A plastic cover to save your portfolio

Make the cover for the portfolio.

DAY 2 (1ºD 3/6, 1ºE 9/6, 1ºC 8/6)

Check that you brought all necessary materials. Write down the money you spent and who spent it in your portfolio, on the budget page

Draw the pieces of the tangram on the mounting board with your set squares. These are the dimensions (corrections: make the rectangles 3 cm high):

Cut out all the pieces with the cutter that the teacher will give you. Use a piece of wood provided by the teacher to protect the desk

Don't throw the remaining cardboard: you may need it later

Write everything you do in the project's portfolio.  Add drawings

At the end of the session, keep all your pieces in the bag you brought. Include the portfolio. Write the team's name and class outside the bag

Place the bag where your teacher tells you to

Return the cutter and the wooden board to the teacher before leaving the class

DAY 3 (1ºD 8/6, 1ºE 13/6, 1ºC 14/6)

Glue the pieces to form the box. Use glue + pins given by the teacher

Think of how you can hold the cover to open and close the box. You can use the remainings of your mounting cardboard for any extra pieces you invent. If you need any aditional element from home, decide who will bring it next day.

Draw the Tangram pieces on the 24x24 cm square

Think of how you will decorate your box. You can use the cardboard leftovers to make a 3D decoration!

Write everything you do in the project's portfolio.  Add drawings

Plan who will bring tempera paint and brushes for the next class. Agree on the colors you need. If you need anything for decorating or fising the cover, write it down too.

At the end of the session, keep all your pieces and the portfolio in your team's bag and place it correctly

Return any tools to the teacher before leaving the class

DAY 4 (1ºD 10/6, 1ºE 16/6, 1ºC 15/6)

Check that you have the tempera paint and any other aditional materials. Write down the price in the budget

Cut the tangram pieces out

Paint them in the right colors

You should also decorate the box

Adjust the budget to see who ows money to who

Add a drawing in the project's portfolio that illustrates at least 3 figures people can do with your tangram. Here you have some examples:

DAY 5 (1ºD 15/6, 1ºE 20/6, 1ºC 21/6)

Bring money to pay your part of the budget

Final touches for the tangram and the box

Work on the project's portfolio: cover, index, right pages order...

Present the finished tangram and the portfolio to the teacher

Throw away the remainings and take your bag home

DAY 6 (1ºD 22/6, 1ºE 23/6, 1ºC 22/6)

Final project evaluation
